A collaboration with the Land Trust of North Alabama that brings contemporary painting into conversation with the natural landscapes of North Alabama.
LIGHT BETWEEN THE LEAVES.
It seems to be the only place where I can be many things at once.
At peace. In chaos.
Tired. Rejuvenated.
Sad. Content.
Present. Absent. Wild. Tame.
A place. Out there. To be feared. To be loved.
Here. Gone. Chaotic. Calm.
Outside. In my heart.
"We rarely protect what we have never truly noticed," says Isbell. "Love begins with attention."
Rather than depicting a specific landscape, Isbell’s paintings explore what it feels like to belong within one. Through their immersive scale and layered compositions, her works invite viewers into moments of reflection.
They encourage us to consider not only the landscapes that surround us, but also the connections those places hold.
Across both experiences, Canopy invites visitors to slow down, pay attention, and come stand quietly beside nature.

Experience Canopy
Come stand quietly beside nature.
It was always my intention to create a space — a moment where one could sit and be immersed in art, in nature, and in one’s own presence among them.
CANOPY will be presented in Huntsville, Alabama, October 15–18, 2026, through an indoor exhibition and a one-day outdoor experience at Hickory Cove Nature Preserve.
The outdoor experience invites one or two guests to sit quietly with the artwork for 15 minutes, allowing the painting, the landscape, and one’s own presence within it to be encountered together.

Canopy artworks will be available for acquisition from the 15th October, 2026.
Proceeds support the Land Trust of North Alabama’s mission and Charlotte Marie Isbell’s ongoing studio practice.
