LAND TRUST OF NORTH ALABAMA

CANOPY
SHYNESS

Art Exhibition / Experience 2026

Canopy Shyness is a forthcoming solo art exhibition inspired by the quiet phenomenon in which tree canopies instinctively avoid touching—allowing light and resources to nourish the ecosystems below.

Expanding her latest work into a broader ecological and spatial dialogue, the artist Charlotte Marie Isbell—known for her immersive, nature-driven oil paintings that bridges ecological sensitivity and human experience with contemporary expression—will explore movement, contrast, light, and restraint, not only within the land, but in how we move through it.

Curated in partnership with the Land Trust of North Alabama, color, form, and scale will converge to create a multi-sensory experience—inviting our region to reflect on land stewardship and the quiet beauty of boundaries.

This proposal outlines a rare opportunity to align with a project of both substance and awe: a collaboration with a respected conservation organization and an internationally recognized and collected artist, designed to directly support land preservation efforts across the region.

About the Artist

Charlotte Marie Isbell is an Australian-born artist based in Madison, Alabama. Working primarily with oil on canvas, her practice explores what it means to live fully in a woman’s body — to hold complexity, softness, memory, and movement in equal measure. Her paintings reflect an ongoing dialogue between internal experience and external environment, shaped by contrast, color, and the quiet rhythms of place.

Painting from her garden studio at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Charlotte draws deeply from nature — not only as subject, but as collaborator. Her work is grounded in personal experience and ecological awareness, offering layered, immersive pieces that invite reflection and resonance. While the Southern landscape holds her daily life, her perspective is shaped by time living in Australia, Europe, and the United States, creating a practice that is both rooted and cross-cultural.

Art Show Space Proposal

PURPOSE:
This proposal outlines a potential partnership between Preservation Company, The Land Trust
of North Alabama, and artist Charlotte Marie Isbell to host an immersive art exhibition that highlights the intersection of space, nature, and community experience.

By opening the doors of Preservation Company to this thoughtfully curated event, the project would welcome The Land Trust’s esteemed patrons, Charlotte Marie Isbell collectors, and members of the public into a unique environment—one that reflects Huntsville’s evolution as a city that values conservation, creativity, and cultural enrichment.

REQUEST:
We’re seeking a unique, somewhat unexpected—but suitablespace to host this immersive exhibition. To bring this vision to life, we are inviting Preservation Company to sponsor the event by generously providing their upstairs area, ideally in either Spring or Fall of 2026.

THE SPACE

As a part of this offering we would require:

  • Access for planning, installation, and deinstallation (schedule to be coordinated with your team).

  • Capacity to accommodate up to 150 guests for an opening night reception.

  • Ideally public accessibility for ongoing viewing during a two-month exhibition period (details for this would be confirmed with all parities prior to making this a public option)

Please note: all event logistics, operations, and space cleaning will be managed entirely by the exhibition team. Please see Useful Information for more details about security, insurance and timings.

VALUE TO PRESERVATION COMPANY

This collaboration offers Preservation Company a unique opportunity to extend your values of preservation, beauty, and thoughtful living into an immersive and meaningful experience.
By opening your doors to this one-of-a-kind event, you’ll help spark conversations around care
for place and community, while aligning your brand with something truly special.

Value includes:

  • Brand Presence: Prominent recognition across all exhibition signage, printed materials, press releases, and digital marketing.

  • Event Photography: Full access to professionally captured images from the event, available for your use in marketing, communications, or internal documentation.

  • Original Artwork: As a gesture of appreciation, Charlotte Marie Isbell will gift an original artwork from the collection (valued at $5,000) to commemorate the collaboration.

  • Public Relations: Association with a high-profile cultural event, demonstrating support for community enrichment and creative partnerships.

  • Private Opening Night Access: You, your team, and your valued clients will be warmly invited to attend the exclusive opening night celebration.

  • Private Use Opportunity: Should you wish, the space may also be made available for a private Preservation Company-hosted event during the exhibition period—offering a unique and elevated environment to entertain clients, partners, or your internal team. The exhibition team can assist in facilitating this, making it a seamless experience.
