CANOPY

marks loose and open. always space between; layers of density that has memory attached — presence. absence. opening. echo. residue.

stand quietly beside nature

A collaboration with the Land Trust of North Alabama that brings contemporary painting into conversation with the natural landscapes of North Alabama.

Works from
CANOPY Outside

These four works were created for the outdoor installation of CANOPY, conceived as a place to sit amongst the chaos of nature and experience the strange calm it can offer.

Together, the paintings create a space for encounter, inviting visitors to pause and become part of the surrounding landscape.

Canopy Bench

Designed and made by Eric Robertson

Black Walnut
Plant-based hard-wax oil finish
51 × 17 × 19 in.
$3,500

Crafted to preserve the complete cross-section of the tree, the Live-Edge Bench reveals its structure from outer and inner bark, through the cambium and sapwood, to the dark heartwood at its core.

By leaving these layers visible, the bench celebrates the complexity, resilience and intricate life of the trees that help define and enrich the lands protected by the Land Trust of North Alabama.
